Why can't they have a screenshot? They gan be executed in a window, and the window can be grabbed by Gimp, for example. For a game like nethack-console, I think it is certainly meaningful to see what sort of interface it gives you. I think it makes sense for packages which have no interface (that is, daemons). For text-mode games, I'd just go for screenshots. How to take the screenshots is a question, though.
