Hi, I'm seeing this (or a very similar) problem as well, for instance in iceweasel and emacs22-gtk. It happens when I type /usr/bin/ into the location bar and press enter. In this case it took 90+ seconds of 100% CPU until Emacs came back to life again. This only happens if the directory name is typed into the location bar directly, not if navigating through the directory list.
