Package: mplayer Version: 1.0~rc1-12etch3 Severity: normal When started for the first time (or after a rm ~/.mplayer/gui.conf), gmplayer choses xmga as its default video output, which is specific to Matrox cards (I have an ATI card). As a result, video does not work and I get this error: Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.
I can solve the problem by doing "Preferences" -> "Video" -> "Available driver" and choosing xv, then restarting gmplayer.
