Is enigmail really unusable for you or is the messages just not appropriate? FWIW, we plan to make an enigmail locale package for all language packs that exist ... similar to what is currently done for mozilla-firefox locales. The future maintainer already finished the work and I will upload as soon as sarge is out. So sorry, no lang packs for sarge!
