I tried to test 2.6.26-rc8 kernel from http://kernel-archive.buildserver.net/debian-kernel/ and it seems that the killswitch changes triggers problems in network-manager/hal/dbus. Not sure who should adapt itself (I guess network-manager or hal), but you may want to look at it. The errors don't seem fatal, I manage to eventually connect to my access point, but it takes quite some time.
