This will probably never happen, because builds are likely to take
way more than than they currently do.

It happens 148 times per build, it adds 2,5 minutes,
the i386 buildd logs shows
Build started at 20080705-1650
Finished at 20080705-1745
and armel
Build started at 20080705-2309
Finished at 20080706-1836
The addition is at about 5% on i386, slowdown will be unnoticeable on
slower architectures.
Anyways, since I'm going to remove the (unneeded nowadays) visibility
flags hack...
Please, could you consider adding the sleep - it fixes the cause - rebuild
of some files during "make install".
