tags 364620 +patch thanks I used to get FTBFS for this bug too, but it appears that it is indeed fixed in recent versions of Perl. Specifically, according to <http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/software/podlators/changes.html>, the --release= option is permitted to be empty starting with a version which was created on 2004-05-07. When this was merged into the Perl distribution I don't know, but presumably it happened in 2004 or 2005; in no event later than early 2006.
The patch suggested by Davor Ocelic should of course still be applied. -$(date +$$(date ... or near-equivalently +$(shell date /* era */ -- If this were a real .signature, it would suck less.
