I have not posted updates but the hangs disappeared again, it's
working stable at lest from the 8 august. I'm still using the Sid
packages.

I don't have Compiz installed but I'll gladly test it if you think
it's useful. The couple of OpenGL applications and the screensaver
hacks I tried work without problems.
