Awesome, thanks a lot for this extremely valuable feedback. I don't use IE (I don't even have it on any of my machines) so feedback + detailed description of the issue + patch is really very cool!
I'm currently on vacation so I'll look into this in depth sometimes soon, but from what I've seen so far, Patch 1 is a no-brainer and is accepted, Patch 2 is also good to go as far as I could tell, and regarding Patch 3, I'll see if I can make this a bit cleaner (I'm thinking about modifying the form itself rather than the interpreting code)
I'm CC'ing a Debian bug as Patch 2 and 3 directly concern it (and probably fixes it as well),
