Well, I am quite sure AbiWord respects $BROWSER, so it may well be an
issue with sensible-browser *as it pertains to AbiWord*. Please at least
let me know if changing the BROWSER value to a real browser like
Epiphany works.

ok, set BROWSER=epiphany then. I was merely suggesting a generic course
of action.
