I recently reinstalled grub-iee1275 and the same problem still exists. When I invoke grub-mkdevicemap it creates a file in /boot/grub/device.map with the contents: (No aliases found.) /dev/hda As for using testing the patch, I have not built my own debian packages before and so can't help with that but i am willing to test and follow any of your directions!
