Package: sox Version: 12.17.7-2 Followup-For: Bug #311118 The real reason to enable ALSA support is so that the ALSA dmix plugin can be used to mix audio streams via software, enabling more than one program access to the sound device. aoss works in some cases with sox, but I'm sure native support would be preferred as it is an option.
That's all assuming that sox doesn't have some huge issue using ALSA. If it does, then it may not be worth the trouble. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.11.11 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages sox depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libmad0 0.15.1b-2.1 MPEG audio decoder library ii libogg0 1.1.2-1 Ogg Bitstream Library ii libvorbis0a 1.1.0-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisenc2 1.1.0-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisfile3 1.1.0-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
