Package: fontconfig-config Version: 2.6.0-1 Severity: wishlist Although we know we can customize via ~/.fonts.conf, it will be nice if you provide alternatives for system wide /etc/fonts/conf.avail/65-nonlatin.conf. * Chinese -> Japanese -> Korean (65-nonlatin-cjk.conf) * Japanese -> Korean -> Chinese (65-nonlatin-jkc.conf) * Korean -> Chinese -> Japanese (65-nonlatin-kcj.conf) * Japanese -> Chinese -> Korean (65-nonlatin-jck.conf) * Chinese -> Korean -> Japanese (65-nonlatin-ckj.conf) * Korean -> Japanese -> Chinese (65-nonlatin-kjc.conf)
Current 65-nonlatin.conf lists CJK fonts in somewhat random order. This is not so good. When multiple fonts are installed, the output becomes different due to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Han_unification problem. One of the most annoing ones are "U+3001 IDEOGRAPHIC COMMA" and "U+3002 IDEOGRAPHIC FULL STOP" whose character positions differ among CJK countries. I think indics have similar problems. As long as we have multiple choices as system default choice, we can easily set up alternatives with update-alternatives(8). Asking debconf question to set this alternative is the next step. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (600, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages fontconfig-config depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.23 Debian configuration management sy ii gsfonts-x11 0.21 Make Ghostscript fonts available t ii ttf-bitstream-vera 1.10-7 The Bitstream Vera family of free ii ttf-dejavu 2.25-3 Metapackage to pull in ttf-dejavu- ii ttf-freefont 20080323-3 Freefont Serif, Sans and Mono True ii ucf 3.0010 Update Configuration File: preserv fontconfig-config recommends no packages. fontconfig-config suggests no packages. -- debconf information: fontconfig/subpixel_rendering: Automatic fontconfig/enable_bitmaps: true fontconfig/hinting_type: Native -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
