That was a mistake. I used a 'standard' base lenny image which happened to have old files laying around in it, /emul/ia32-linux/lib/libgcc_s.so.1 should not have been in there :(( raidutils-0.6.6-8 does indeed work fine now I fixed this. Another day wasted.
