Hi, I had a look at the source and the output of "apt-cache stats" and it looks like the problem is that libapt does not detect duplicated description version. I.e. if ftp.de.debian.org and ftp.debian.org are present in the sources.list, that doubles the amount of descrptions it seems. I'm looking into that.
