Actually, I have just realized that my assumption about the reason of this bug was wrong. The actual reason was that there was no space left on my /home/ partition when I was using geeqie. After I cleaned the drive somewhat and tried to reproduce the bug, I could not see it. Anyway, the zero space condition must be somehow checked. So I will leave this bug open.
