Package: cryptsetup Version: 2:1.0.6-6 Followup-For: Bug #419571
Unless it has been fixed *very* recently, this bug (boot fails to ask for password of second physical volume of VG containing root) has not been fixed. (At least) part of the problem may be in /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/cryptroot, in the get_lvm_deps function where it calls "dmsetup deps" to get the major/minor device ids of the dependancies of the VG containing root. At least on my (current Lenny) system, "dmsetup deps" returns only a single pair of numbers, even though there are two PVs underlying that VG. I'm not knowlegable enough in the guts of LVM2 to provide a patch, but I hope this helps. Rick PS: If this bug was supposed to be fixed in Lenny, maybe it would be appropriate to raise it's priority to something above "wishlist"? -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages cryptsetup depends on: ii dmsetup 2:1.02.27-3 The Linux Kernel Device Mapper use ii libc6 2.7-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libdevmapper1.02.1 2:1.02.27-3 The Linux Kernel Device Mapper use ii libpopt0 1.14-4 lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii libuuid1 1.41.0-3 universally unique id library cryptsetup recommends no packages.
