Hi, Julien. I just tested with a PowerPC Mac running iTunes 8 and the m4a files are not played there either.
I guess that we could get a tcpdump of the communication to see what is happening differently between m4a and mp3 files. :-( Unfortunately, tomorrow I will be attending a conference on software design methodologies and won't be able to test further.
