You're not really helping me. You report a problem with 2.8.16 on a mixed lenny-etch system. Does 2.8.17 (installed from sources) work on this system ? The fact that it works with Etch doesn't add a lot of information. Several fixes related to Perl 5.10 already got applied to sql-ledger and I'd like to know if the changes between 2.8.16 and 2.8.17 include some fixes for your problem (and I can't find an upstream ChangeLog… things do not improve on the upstream side).
