Package: xvkbd
Version: 3.0-1
Severity: wishlist
[ X-Debbugs-CC set to upstream author as this is not debian specific issue. ]
matchbox-keyboard allows me to use two general purpose modifiers ("mod1"
and "mod2" in matchbox-keyboard speak). This means I can have only
qwerty, shift, backspace, space, return, mod1 and mod2 buttons in my
layout. I can then get extra characters by using e.g. mod1-foo or mod2-foo.
xvkbd allows me to specify bindings for shift-foo, altgr-foo and
shiftalgr-foo. Since I need to use shift to get uppercase letters I
can't use shift for anything else. This means I have to put all the
extra characters behind altgr-foo and shiftalgr-foo. However, there's a
catch: there is no single "shift+algr" button: I have to press both
shift and altgr meaning that in 1/3 of my keys are available only with
three clicks.
Would it be possible to provide a "shift+altgr" button or simply add a few
general purpose modifiers that can be used to access extra characters?
As a bonus it would be cool if mod1-mod2-foo and mod2-mod1-foo were both
available and could be bound to different characters ;-)
