Package: brltty
Version: 3.10~r3724-1+b1
Severity: normal
Hello,
In the debian installer, we automatically start brltty when udev detects
a USB device or when specified on the command line. Then we use the pid
file to detect whether brltty got started and in that case disable the
frame buffer. The problem is that if brltty takes a long time before
creating the pidfile, the debian installer script doesn't see it, and
lets the frame buffer start, Sebastien has experienced that a few times.
I'm not sure how this should be fixed. If brltty could, when going
background, write the pidfile from the father process before calling
_exit(0), instead of from the child (as is currently done), the race
would get fixed. Another way is in the debian scripts to record whether
brltty got started in a debconf variable, as was done in a previous
version of my patch.
