Hi, Had the same problem on Lenny.
To get output on the console, I added extra = "console=hvc0" to the domU .cfg file, though I couldn't get getty to run on hvc0. root login was possible on xvc0. Then there was a problem with ssh after the authentication: PTY allocation request failed on channel 0 It turned out the udev package was missing. After installing it everything was fine.
