I hit this bug too (pose 3.5-7).

I have 2 machines with Debian Sarge- at work (Network install) and at home 
(Sarge 2005.05.17).

At work pose works fine, but at home seg fault on start up.

(from my work workstation- works fine (X.org))

pose binaries md5sum at work and at home the same.

I have attached files with strace and ltrace output.

I will try compile pose with debug info and see backtrace of core soon.
