as you probably already know, some work is underway to be able to script gdb in python: http://sourceware.org/gdb/wiki/PythonGdb There are already some Python scripts out there that help a lot debugging GObject-based programs, and it would be very nice if we could benefit of it. I guess this is only the beginning and that we will see a lot of things to improve debugging experience.
