I've generated a table listing MIME types supported by the different media plugins in Debian/Lenny (minus the totem plugin, not sure why I was unable to get a list out of it). The list is available from <URL:http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/BrowserMultimedia>, and show that the "audio/x-mpegurl" mime type currently is supported by gxineplugin, kaffeine-mozilla, mozilla-mplayer and xine-plugin but not mozilla-plugin-vlc.
