To fix it:
1. Run ldconfig
2. Modify /etc/postgresql/8.3/main/environment
Add line: R_HOME = '/usr/lib/R/'

Also 'createlang plr db' does not work as expected for 'createlang plpythonu db'
etc
This is because there's no entry for plr in pg_pltemplate
That's less of a problem considering the readme does state to use: psql db < /us
r/share/postgresql/8.3/plr.sql

The fix is fairly easy to do at the configuration stage, but it would be useful
to at least have it stated in the readme, rather than having to go the original
website to track down the issue.

The problem is that policy does not allow to change other packages
configuration files. So for a first shot I added a README.Debian which
explaines the things you have to do. Just have a look at:

http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-postgresql/trunk/postgresql-plr/debian/README.Debian?op=file&rev=0&sc=0

On the other hand I have not found any package that actually owns
/etc/postgresql/*/main/environment. So the question to the
postgresql packaging list is: Am I allowed to eddit the environment
file in the postinst of postgresql-plr or what is the general policy
for this case.

Kind regards

         Andreas.
