To be honest, I have no idea of what's going wrong on your system.
Please test 1.5.2 packages from
http://people.debian.org/~blade/experimental/ though I see no relevant
fixes between 1.4.2 and 1.5.2. If that does not help then I hope that
upstream author might help you (BCc'ed).
