Downgrading libdvdnav4 to 4.1.2-3 fixes playback in > Totem. Thoggen's quite happy with experimental libdvdnav4, though. This sounds more like an issue with libdvdnav. Thoggen doesn't use libdvdnav while totem through resindvd does.
