I can't reproduce this: I start Eterm, I scroll around on the default
Debian start page using Ins/Del, and everything looks fine.  Is your
$TERM set to Eterm?  Are you using screen?  Failing that, could you
create a screenshot?

[scrot is one Debian package which can create screenshots.  I'm sure
there are others, but I don't know them offhand.]
