I have also encountered this.  I could now understand why some of my
emails were messed up - but I agree that it happens when I type the
passphase incorrectly the first time.

The following is an example of the message that I intended to send, as
nearly as I was able to reproduce it, followed by the message source cut
and pasted from the Sent box (from Icedove 2.0.0.17 (20081018)).
