Bug#406271: mplayer: says that I need to get proprietary software even when the file plays fine with free

[hhaamu]

The problem is mplayer preferring binary codecs to the inbuilt ffmpeg  
ones.

Workarounds:
mplayer -vfm ffmpeg, somefile.wmv
add "vfm=ffmpeg," in ~/.mplayer/config or /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf

Those make mplayer try the ffmpeg family before any other codec.
