Package: dpkg
Version: 1.10.28
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

I use apt-build to build optimized package for my architecture. It's
configured to use march=athlon-tbird , still the package created use
"i386" as an arch.

That means that if I decide to distribute the build package, some user
will be able to install it on his computer although it will probably
not works (ex: he got a 486 and the package is for athlon-tbird).

I reported that a long time ago under bug 286112 :
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=286112&archive=yes
where apt-build developer, Julien Danjou <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, reports
that a patch to dpkg need to be made.

Would it be possible to add some more architectures for people that
build optimized packages ? I am personally recompiling most of debian
repository with athlon-tbird and would love to see the real arch shown
in the .deb filename :)
