I just noticed a similar but worse case than the Reuters case mentioned in my last mail (where non-ascii characters were replaced by kana) on Slashdot, where ascii characters are shown as kana (see http://xs536.xs.to/xs536/09070/fontgarbage235.png for an example screenshot).
