By which you are now vulnerable by CVE-2008-4395 (aka Bug#504696). Would you recompile your module with the patch debian/patches/CVE-2008-4395.patch? It the module fails with the patch, we know the cause of the problem. This patch is also in upstream version 1.54, it would be great to know if this fails for you as well.
