I'm experiencing the same issue with libcairo2 1.8.6-2. Downgrading to 1.6.4-7 resolves the issue immediately. Upgrading to 1.8.6-2 brings it back.
It appears not only on the page mentioned in this report. It is also still valid for the mentioned example page given in bug report #508214 (already archived) [1] but also on more pages like [2, 3]. Also using an intel i965 card.
