Package: lvm2 Version: 2.02.44-2 Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- devices nodes created by lvm2 in /dev/mapper do not belong to the group "disk" anymore. This makes it impossible for non-root users belonging to the disk group to manipulate any of the logical volumes.
My particular use case is virtualbox-ose. I use lvm2 logical volumes to store raw disk images for virtualbox. virtualbox doesn't run as root, so I added the user running virtualbox-ose to the disk group. This used to work fine until recently. I can't tell which version of lvm2 caused this to go wrong, though, as I hadn't used virtualbox on this machine for a few weeks. I set the umask to 022 in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf, ran update-initramfs and rebooted the system, to no avail. I checked the updated initramfs, it did contain the updated lvm.conf with umask set to 022.
