VTE provides 4 different behaviors for VteTerminalEraseBinding:
VTE_ERASE_AUTO, VTE_ERASE_ASCII_BACKSPACE, VTE_ERASE_ASCII_DELETE,
and VTE_ERASE_DELETE_SEQUENCE.

VTE_ERASE_AUTO is the default behavior of both VTE and evilvte.
It is known to have problem in specific applications,
such as GNU screen.

I plan to provide a hotkey or a menu option in future upstream release,
so users can change VteTerminalEraseBinding runtime.
