dpkg -c network-manager-gnome_0.6.6-4_i386.deb | grep nm-no-connection -rw-r--r-- root/root 1146 2009-01-14 08:57 ./usr/share/icons/hicolor/22x22/apps/nm-no-connection.png So you see, the icon is shipped in the package. My only guess is, that it's a problem with the icon cache. Do you have a file /usr/share/icons/hicolor/icon-theme.cache and does it help if you delete that?
