files created by twolame in VBR mode can't be played by any player.
Judging from the file doc/vbr.txt, Layer II VBR is defective by design, so it's no surprise that players do not support it well.
madplay and mplayer for example complain about losing synchronization, same goes for gstreamer-based players.
