I can't just install a conffile because /root/.synaptic/synaptic.conf is not in /etc.
If you can get to this before I do, please add this functionality (I'm still working on getting the custom distro built without such aids for the small number of packagse whose default config is not suitable and don't have policy-compliant ways of changing the existing config without modifying the package).
