I found out, that this procedere does not work in every desktop environment. It works in KDE (version 3.5.10 from lenny), but doesn't in Xfce (version 4.4.2 from lenny) for example. Maybe this would be worth to be documented in the FAQ? There is already an FAQ entry about how to change shortcuts, perhaps you want to add something like: This feature is somewhat dependent from your desktop environment and its configuration. It is known to work for example in KDE 3.5.10, when you add gtk-can-change-accels = 1 to your .gtkrc-2.0 file, but with other environments this will probably not work.
