I run Debian Sid 64-bit. About one week ago I lost the stereo sound in my speakers, at least sometimes. I only had the front left with sound, using
speaker-test -t wav -c2 As I had bought new speakers I didn't think it was in the software. But now i am not so sure. About at the same time I also received the warnings: WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/arch, it will be ignored in a future release. WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/arch-aliases, it will be ignored in a future release. WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/aliases, it will be ignored in a future release. etc I am not so bothered about the startup-times. But, if it also is the cause of no sound in my "front right" speaker it is an issue. There is no systematic pattern I can discern. But, I had the impression it might be related to pulseaudio and alsa. At least some initial stuttering disappeared when I purged pulseaudio. alsaconf has stopped working: # alsaconf bash: alsaconf: command not found if I run modprobe I receive: # modprobe snd WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/oss-compat, it will be ignored in a future release. WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/pnp-hotplug, it will be ignored in a future release. WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/sound, it will be ignored in a future release. WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist, it will be ignored in a future release. WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-kernel-nkc, it will be ignored in a future release. WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/display_class, it will be ignored in a future release. To me the boot-up warnings look related to these modprobe warnings. Thanks for any help!
