In the narrow sense, yes.  In the wider sense, I think the answer is no.
There is something in the Debian Policy about links being preferred to be
'short' and 'not absolute'.  So even if you create explicitly, I think the
dpkg et al tools 'flatten' them back.  Do you want me to dig out chapter and
verse?

So I think in this it is really "just" your local admin issue, and I would
like to just close this if that was ok with you.
