Other packages start fine, and so does gtwitter now. So this means that I
can't reproduce the reported issue anymore. What changed from yesterday to
today was that I upgraded to the latest packages of the current Debian
testing, though none of them was a package upon which gtwitter (directly)
depends, as far as I can see (didn't check indirect dependencies, though):
