Andrea,
This problem seems to be present in current 0.4.2, while it stopped when
user created a partition on the device¹.
Ubuntu had problems, too, but a system update seems to solve it².
Could you please help us determining if this relies on a low level
software package? If so, I can update package information explaining
known caveats with the software.
Thanks for your time and great work,
Jose

Hi Jose,
unfortunately the problem still exists on Lenny.
These are the sticks I tried on an Ubuntu Gutsy system:

Second stick does not work on Lenny, first stick works perfectly. Seems to
depend on the UUID.
Lenny system has libpam-usb 0.4.2-1, and pamusb-tools 0.4.2-1 installed.
Best regards,
Hauke
