I'm sorry to have to open crossfire :-) This is my situation: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=518069#70 This was a "try of a solution", which however worked for me completely. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=518069#95 Whenever I put "dbus-launch x-session-manager &" in my ~/.vnc/xstartup, GNOME works just fine like before with version 2.22.0-1 of gconf2.
