Package: git-buildpackage Version: 0.4.50 Severity: normal As subject says, git-import-orig cannot automatically determine upstream version from a tarball named sugar-toolkit-0.84_0.84.4.orig.tar.gz.
I imagine that the tool uses some fuzzy scanning for digits and chokes the digits in package name too. If I am right, then I suggest first parsing by strict debian logic (version starts after an underscore and ends at .orig) and only if that fails try with fuzzy logic.
