Well, probably yes,
I see it as quite consistent on _my computer_.
I beleive it is quite consistent on my HP Vectra of some kind,
about 3+ years old.
Can I run some commands to list this, or is there some debugging
I can help with?

First, I did a pretty standard install from the
CD-image that downloads packages from the net.
At the reboot, I left the computer for a quite long time
about 1 hour. When I got back had the computer hung.
It was a hard hung, CTRL-ALT+DEL did not work. I had to press the
power switch for a long time to get the computer to turn off.
Repeated the install, with a little bit more activity, tooka a
break for lunch, now it hung at the menu for what type of
applications to install.
So, a pretty "random" hang which does not depend on what is really
running on the system.
Debugging this will be kinda hard as I suspect some hardware problem.
