Package: midentd
Version: 2.3.1-3
Severity: normal

I noticed, that /proc/net/ip_conntrack has the following permissions:

-r--r----- 1 root root 0 2005-06-29 23:41 /proc/net/ip_conntrack

When midentd is run by inetd (default configuration), it is run as
user ident, which is in group nogroup. With this permissions midentd
cannot read the file /proc/net/ip_conntrack, which makes the program
nearly unusable.

Workaround: change the inetd.conf setup to run midentd as group root
(which is quite ugly):

ident stream tcp nowait identd.root /usr/sbin/midentd midentd
