these bugs are open for quite some years, without a single response.
I've seen several uploads have happend since then, is there any
news/development regarding these bugs?
It seems (from BTS #65797) that smpeg-gtv is no longer built with the
package. Though now looking at PTS, it does ship the binary. I started
looking at smpeg but I got from #65797 that there might be some non-free
issues. I will try to see if I can hit up some of the folks in the SDL
team.
I really can't see why (looking at #65797), especially since mplayer
(the decoding part) was allowed into Debian, which can play, amongst
others, also mpeg/mp3 files. And this was done after literally years
staying in NEW/debian-legal.
Do you currently use smpeg-gtv?
No, I once tried to but given these bugs I did not try further. Though
I still think these are valid bugs. If you want me to retry (probably
not on alpha, though) please tell me. I am currently looking trough my
open bugs, and these particular ones have not even be acknowledged
previously, despite several (!) uploads in the archive (so no MIA case,
at has happened to other bugs of mine).
Thanks for investigating!
Greetings
Helge
Helge,
Yes, after talking with Sam Hocevar, I have closed #65797. I'm
currently in touch with upstream to see about getting some updates done
for smpeg and I will make sure these two hit the radar.
Thanks again,
Barry deFreese
